..”Ignorance! They think “it sounds better if it sounds foreign.” Except you were raised abroad, it sounds fake if it sounds foreign. A broadcaster should be very comfortable in his/her accent. Accent is the least thing to worry about if you want to speak rightly. I hear fake accent coupled with terrible pronunciation on radio and television every day. Whereas, the most important aspect of speaking rightly is working on diction and practicing pronunciation. There is no point faking it. People know when you are faking it and it is always a turn-off. Get trained, pronounce and enunciate the vowels and consonants of each word clearly; that’s all….”
